Taking your cat outdoors can be a challenge at first, but with a couple of simple steps, it can get easy. First of all, make sure your cat can be identified. There can be multiple ways of achieving this. The easiest way is for your cat to wear a safety collar with your information on it. Now that your cat has a safety collar we can move on to going out. One of the main things to consider is the environment that she’s getting exposed to. You should, at first, do training with a leash. But obviously don’t grab any leash, because cats need different kinds of leashes than such as dogs or etc. You should look to use more a soft or squishy kind of leash.
Leash TrainingLeash training for cat is important to take him out of the home. It is recommended that you start this training while your cat is still a kitten. If so, your training should go rather easy and smooth. For older cats, it can be a little difficult than that. You have to make sure that (at least at first) she’s getting exposed to a safe, cat-friendly environment. And it should be separated from cars, dogs, or other stray cats since it might scare or worse, harm her.
Make Sure They Are ComfortableAfter these steps, your cat should be rather comfortable in an outdoor space. But it’s not over yet. When your cat starts to go out by herself you should be looking to install a cat flap in a door or a window. Take food or toys outside and have an eye over her while she wanders around unaccompanied. And by this point you should teach her to come to you when called, using treats or her favorite toys. Make sure you reward her afterward by giving her a treat. You should repeat this process for some time, in different places. After a while, she should come every time you call her, from pretty much anywhere. And make sure to call them a good girl/boy and give them a belly rub!
